In 1999, Zaha Hadid collaborated with the Pet Shop Boys on the stage design for their Nightlife tour, bringing her architectural vision into the world of pop music and live performance.
The resulting project was an extraordinary meeting of architecture, music and theatrical spectacle, challenging conventional ideas of what a concert stage could be.
Presented as part of the Zaha Hadid Foundation’s Architecture of Performance exhibition, this special conversation celebrates the ideas, personalities and creative exchanges behind the project. Costume and stage designer Ian MacNeil, alongside former members of Zaha Hadid Architects – Bergendy Cooke and Oliver Domeisen – reunite to share their memories of the collaboration, from the earliest sketches and ambitious ideas to the extraordinary spectacle that unfolded on stage.
The conversation will be moderated by Libby Sellers, guest curator of Architecture of Performance and contributing author of Pet Shop Boys Volume (Thames & Hudson, 2026), the definitive visual retrospective of the duo’s four decades of creative innovation.
Doors open and drinks served from 6.30pm
Event starts promptly at 7pm
