RIBA Youth Forum Workshop
RIBA Youth Forum, a group of students aged 15-18 as part of RIBA Education, visited the Zaha Hadid Foundation in July 2023 to participate in a workshop in Studio 5 led by Wilson Yau (ZHF).
The day commenced with an introduction to Zaha Hadid’s work and the Foundation, followed by a tour around ZHF’s Grade II listed building, in which they learnt about the dynamic history of the site as a former 19th-century school and HQ of Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA). In addition, the students were guided around Zaha’s Moonsoon: An Interior in Japan (2023), an exhibition in our gallery space that presented works from Zaha’s first built interior outside of the UK in Sapporo, Japan (1989-1990).
The students were then briefed to create their own benches based on the Moonsoon Sofa (1989-1990) on-show and the unique Zaha-designed bench housed in the courtyard. The students transformed Zaha’s use of twisted, exploded and layered forms into a range of unique works that showcase her artistic legacy.
